Hey everyone, my name's Kareemah and I'm relatively new to blogging. My first post is below; I had a magical time at Kew Gardens this evening and would like to share the scribbly notes I made whilst there. Although written in the chilly weather, whilst walking, I hope you enjoy reading them...
The entrance. Mulled cider, scarfs, wiggling feet holding onto a buggy with excitement. Glimmers, a tree of sparkling sleds, dancing. Chestnut remains. Mulled wine, roast chestnuts under drops of light. Popcorn, candyfloss? Paralleled excitement.
Singing trees; blue, pink, green, yellow. Really singing. Wrapped trunks in fairy lights. Left, right on the path, up and down, music rising. Male and female voices. ‘It would puzzle a monkey to climb that’ – Charles Austin, 1850. ID in 1782 by Europeans in Chile. Pine trees, shedding needles. No cones in sight! Covered in stars. Hemlock too, Northern Japanese. Huge baubles hanging from ditsy tinsel. Opps- fell off!
Patterned light, leaves. Lake covered in rainbow, shimmers reflecting as I walk The Bridge. Tinkerbell! Like an intro to Peter Pan, Tia said. Purple balls on trees in water, on an island, reflecting images.
Castanea sativa. BUBBLES! Fagas sylvatica. Frames! Some more bubbles? (Drinks!) Weeping beech. Magnolia quinquepeta. Torches, burning bright. Twinkling trees on stalks in pots. Smoke, smell, misting the air. Bird sounds played. Insects? :/ White ash! White, icy thorns! Huge! Field maple!
Santa’s Panto! ‘There was once a queen called Charlotte’…’she created’…’lights, songs’…’It’s mince-pie-licious!’
An archway of white X-mas lights. Transparent; trees L and R, with lines of green. Mortimers Orchard in a frame. Huge flowers and fireworks attached to the ground.
The Wishing Tree. Ask a wish to heart’s content. Wish: ‘Be happy and continue helping to save all the beauty surrounding me’. Caucassian elm. A lost scarf hung on a pot. Benches facing one another. Soft shield-fern. A cosy tree wrapped head to toe in fairy lights. Helter Skelter; Tt says no! These tall flowers are paper thin. Churros.
The Greenhouse with projecting patterned primary coloured lights, merging. Rushes of sprinklers on the water, appearing icy. Trees reflecting, appearing as roots. Home Alone music. Musk projecting from the greenhouse. A clock projected in sprinklers. Big Ben too. A family walking water, huge torches, balls and sprinkles. A carousel, swaying in the snow. Cuddles in warm coats, amongst trees, wrapping tinselled scarfs around the young. Snowflakes, dropping. SNOW! Santa! Magic in the air. Red, green lines turning. ‘I don’t want a lot for X-mas…’ *music*, in time to the song. *speeds up* ‘Merryyy Christmasss!’ Snowflakes turning in excitement. Children hooked over the barriers, leaning in. Smiles, projecting in sync with the magic. Dancing snowmen merge into snowflakes. ‘All I want for X-mas…’ *instrumental* ‘Santa, Santa!’, to Daddy.
